Criticizm does not equal Hating

    So....I recently made a thread discussing FP and how I think the quality is degrading. (Luckily Benthecrazy helped somewhat.) However, when I started criticizing, people started making 2nd grade talk-backs like "You're jealous" or "You keep saying that on every fp save" when I clearly don't. Must I jealous? I'm proud of my own saves, I don't need you to tell me (Although upvotes always make me happy +_+ Downvotes make a me a bit sad.)

    Now, here's the thing. They never once used any scientific (Tpteic?) explanation, and came up with those things. Also, they aren't people I know are pretty good at TPT and seem to come out of nowhere. It's a bit annoying. Feel free to look at "Curving Laser" on TPT to see an example.

    I mean, am I a hater just because I don't agree with your opinions? I mean, I don't think there is anything that is a hater, but a troll, but clarify what a hater is and I may change that.

    So here's my proposal. Since it seems like random "new" people come out of nowhere, and noobs are a big problem in general....We should make a training course for them. Now this is the optional part. What we really need is a comment+vote prevental system.

    For about the first 2-3 months, new users who just joined ARE allowed to make and comment on their own saves and threads. However, they can NOT vote on or comment on other saves. (Forum voting is useless, they can do what they want with it.)

    Now how long it actually took me to go from total noob to intermediate level was 8 months- 1 year? But since that is WAY too excessive of a "suspension", 2-3 months is fine. This will allow the new player to learn the game and progress a little and make ACTUAL TPTeic criticizm and criticizm on others' criticizm without making them look like idiots.

    Now the training guide is optional, there are some guides like Ncom's and Dom2Mom's electronic guides. I might make my own beginner's guide, but don't expect there to be any.

    Any thoughts about this? (P.S. I seem to be pretty well known for criticizm....  :P)

    Now, I don't know if this is even possible to implement in-game, but if you can ban people, you probably can do this. Maybe you could hire partime-"mods" to do it everytime a new player comes on, they can only do it the first day they join and only have a 2 (or 3) month "suspension" since the devs and mods are pretty busy themselves.

    if we don't let users who just registered do basic features of the game like voting on saves or commenting on saves that aren't theirs, they will just get annoyed and leave. I registered partly so I could vote on saves, not being able to do that ruins the game.

    Some users might also be really good, and just be afraid to register (again, like me. reusable bombs is the reason I registered) until they have something good to share. They can have good opinions and we shouldn't judge people as noobs who's opinions don't matter based on the fact that they just registered a month ago.

    Also constant criticism, even if valid, is annoying to people so they will say you are a hater. Try and watch your wording is all I can say, use positive language, and be sure to say which saves are good and not just point out the bad in everything :)

     1. K  2. K  3. Uh....

    Lol.

    It's not that their opinions don't matter, it's how they express their opinions is what I don't like. Like I said, for example (This actually happened) A detector laser was made. I said the laser was terrible (Because it was 1200d degrees-ish) Phot was also part of the sensor, so some random person said I was making myself look noob in TPT. ALthough, there WAS a laser part, the save conveniently (spelling fails?) was called a gun.  :L  Also, the fact is, photons start out at 900 degrees, around that, and i said 1200 degrees-ish. He obviously didn't heat up the sensor so.....

    Do you see my point?

    Like, I guess it isn't mostly skill, but skill plays a big part. They make assumptions instead of factual talk-backs, so it's kind of....childish? So if they learned the game more or had been more observant, they would've known what I was talking about.

    But I understand. I'll make sure to point out good and bad.

    HOWEVER, i found a proof that exixts: selectlol says: so much for cliff citys, i never play this again. 1-

    second: most noobs are clueless, others not; some noob that already played a long time but never make a account, altrough rare, is there too. just test someone, and you will find it.(the reason i afraid to make account is not commented hater, but losing password)

    third: some thing other like electronics, like buildings, liked too; dima-gord is who made the legendary city. most cities are liked IMMEDIATELY; like mine.

    Uhm...do laser sensors need to have the requirement to even be hot? Its sort of irrelevant whining about why is a sensor isn't supposed to melt the crap out of stuff, even though it wasn't designed for that...unless PHOT is used as a weapon (in the most obvious and common case, a laser gun...)

    so you don't like how other people express their opinions, so you think they shouldn't be allowed to?

    Also whether or not that save actually was bad is subjective, I don't even know what save it is. Maybe it had some other point to the save besides shooting out photons? Not every laser has to also be a weapon. Also, you can't just say that other people's opinions aren't factual responses because they are noobs.

    Yes, what you did was hating, constructive critizizm= "Hey, maybe you can make this laser hotter, to make it even better!".

    I think you're completely wrong to take away rights such as voting and commenting on others' saves from all noobs just because one small group acts defensive and rude.It's an complete overreaction. You don't tell people not to comment or vote on your save because one person acts up. It's the same thing with your suggestion.

    all of you are right, but the fact is that people dont look at Schneumer's critisizm as critisizm, they just instantly see it as a verbal way of making them feel bad. So then other's look at it and think the same thing and they start defending the person when there was actually no attack, and from there it just goes downhill. A proper verbal attack on a save would be, "oh man this sucks -99999999". Now if it did actually suck then well i just wouldnt say anything, but there some people who just look for something wrong in a save that they can target. Schneumer does not intend on being an annoying person but people just do not see how somethimes saying something maybe a bit harsh can be beneficial to later saves.

    I have no way of fixing this but just consider what i said.

     ...They thought I was talking about the sensor, I wasn't. Exactly the second thing you said.

    @Cacophony (View Post)

     Not just one. That's why I started a thread, if it was one, well another person I should avoid. Now multiple people? That seems like a problem.

    @xetalim (View Post)

     I don't see you doing that.  :L

     I'm a realistic person, not an optimistic.

     I didn't say they aren't because they are noobs, they actually aren't factual responses. I'm not that stupid. So am I to assume they are good at TPT but say people are jealous? I don't think succesful and polite people IRL say you are jealous when you criticize. This is with real people, too.
