Today's Opinion
Today's Generation of Kids
Okay that was a really bad start, I admit. I will go into this one from more of a opinion type way.
KK, not sure if this is the same for everyone, but these days I see 4th graders cursing, 1st graders playing GTA and COD, and well, the kids (NOT ALL) these days is kind of.....crappy. So, how do you feel about today's kids?
EDIT: Also, guys/gals, if you didn't notice, this thread is called "Perspective and Opinion", not "Dr. Phil Show" or "Dr. Oz". So....that's the way I look at it, not the way "psychologists" do. So be more observant and don't flip out about your ignorance. -_-
So maybe I sound like a know-it-all on the topic, I'll try not to, but read the title. I put it there for a reason (besides the fact I need a title)
The cursing: I DO NOT AGREE FOR ANYONE TO BE CURSING AT ANY AGE. C'mon guys, If you're smart, then you have a large vocabulary, so there's no need to curse. This is another example of how parents tread their children with Negligence.
The Video Games: if it is a violent video game, then I don't agree. Like I said, kids learn from their surroundings and if they are involved in violent cussing games like GTA, then they will be influenced to be the same way.
I believe everything has some kind of influence in their actions, no matter how small. Even if the influence on a person is minimal, if exposed long enough to the actions, then the person will start to act more like that. The effect is eponentially higher with kids because even at age 10 or 12, They are still learning. So if there are Kids playing video games with violence and cussing, then don't be surprised if they start being violent and cussing.
NEXT!
People are allowed to swear for fucks sake. Its just a word! People are allowed to use whatever vocabulary they was as long as its not breaking someone elses rights! Saying fuck is not violating your rights, but stopping me saying fuck is. If you want to argue against rights thats fine but do it about something else, not something as arbitry as swearing. Also swear words are the pinnacle of verbal pain and anger relief, :D great!
Violence is video games is nothing like violence in real life, people's minds respond differently to real violence and fake violence. Show someone a clip of someone shooting someone in a game and people will be fine with it, show someone a clip of someone being shot in real life and people will not.
Children who are not mentally disabled in some way understand the difference between a game and real life, the only side effect of children playing violent video games at a young age is that they'll be able to play and enjoy them better and more in later life.
Games also act as a way to let steam off, which is partially why people who play video games dont excersise as much (but thats for another day :D). And to take them away from people could cause build up stress.
Who cares if kids swear in a non-discriminating way, children mainly learn from their parents and friends as that is who they relate to, even if only on a subconcious level.
Good points.
Although you should know there is no such thing as freedom of speech.
Also, instead of cursing you could say "pineapples" or something which is the same, really.
Also this was not MinnesotaBurns hate mail lol XD
So.....yah.
So how would you feel if a said you were a (insert curse phrase). You wouldn't feel happy, now would you? Nope, you probably wouldn't. You would ignore it but then you would be in denial so...yeah...
Also, most people who curse curse unessacarily or 24/7, besides the TPT players but that's because THIS is the internet, and second, there are rules that you can't curse too much.
Thank you for pointing out the other side of the arguement. I needed someone to debate against me, but i'm not going to debate. I've said my point of view and you've said yours. Now it's up to the reader of this thread to decide.
Today's Opinion
You're weird...
I don't like the word "weird". Know why?
No one is actually weird.
Dictionary.com isn't working, but my definition of the typical use of "weird" is "abnormal, different?“
So if someone is weird, it is really their opinion, so no one is actually "weird", so in that case, the word "weird" shouldn't really exist.
Say someone dumps ketchup on their salmon. They aren't weird, but if they like it that way, that's their preference and you have no right to call them weird. (Although I'm being a hypocrite here....)
Or maybe someone eats there poo. That isn't weird, but defintely bad and probably lethal towards the consumer...
Anyways, my point is, don't call someone weird. That's just what they like and do (I'm am SUCH a hypocrite.)
So what do you think?
everyone is weird in a way, to someone else they will always seem different but we shouldnt use it as an insult because that is just hypocrisy since anyone could call anyone weird. i do think that it does not quite have a place to describe people in the dictionary, but it is useful for actions and behaviours of other things like programs glitching and stuff.
look, you have all the right to say what you want and if you want to call someone "wierd", then you can. Nothing can stop you. Them actually listening to you calling them "wierd" is a different matter as is them actually caring.
I believe that there is no such thing as wierd anyways, because it is just someone being themselves. If what they do really bothers you THAT much, then just stay away from them.
