You shouldn't be able to, write on old forums that haven't been locked! forums like over a month old that haven't, even been updated or haven't been posted on... so if its over a month you can't typed on.
Unless, its been updated on...
Important Topics woudn't be locked!

And if it is an important thread that needs updating, like the official feedback thread? That thread can go for very long periods of time with no posts or updates.

I think it would just get annoying to have this. Even though almost all of the time posts in month old threads are necros there can still be some cases where it isn't. And dealing with people who necro is very easy. You might get annoyed by them, but I don't. All I have to do is hit "Lock", type "necro", and done. Sometimes even a ban which I don't mind at all.
So if you see a necro, do absolutely nothing about it and ignore it. I will see it when I get to it, and you don't have to be annoyed about it. -

yes, the button to lock a thread brings us to a page where we type a reason.
And then mods / the original thread owner will see this reason when they go to the thread, ex. "Locked by jacob1: necro, and moving solids aren't very possible" -
