Adblocking

I know some of the people surfing the powder toy use some sort of adblock extention or program. If you don't disable it for this site (Which you can usually do by changing some setting) then its cutting into the non-profit revenue stream keeping the website afloat. Think of it as repaying the developers of powdertoy for all their hard work and effort.

As to quote the top right "Please Don't Block The Ads :("

50% of the time it's the "download now" ad anyway. I have an exception set for here too, and never really notice it. I'm not sure how much Simon makes from the ad at all though, but i'm probably at least 1-3% of it, lol.

I block most ads, particularly image/flash ones. I tried turning blocking off on here, but found the "Download now"/"Play now" ads (that don't actually indicate what they're trying to get me to download) annoying, so I turned blocking back on.

I do sometimes tolerate relevant adverts, but I have no patience with adverts that don't indicate what they're promoting, and seem to be attempting to mislead people into clicking by just saying "download now" on a website which has something that people want to download (TPT).

I support the Adblock Plus movement which started allowing ads that were, by its definition, unobtrusive.
Not that I support that he was bought out, but the fact that he uses his leverage to reshape internet ads as we speak, that's something.
And I still block the ads and use Ghostery.
Advertisers are a screw-over, no offense.

That text comes even when I don't use adblock, I haven't even installed adblock...

The text happens when the box has a width of 0 (a primitive way of detecting if the content in there has been deleted!)

I guess I like the opposite types of ads as jacksonmj, I would rather have generic ads that aren't annoying or relevant, that I will never click unless by accident. When companies somehow know what I like and collect data just to show me relevant things ... that's just creepy. No matter what an ad is I would never ever click one anyway, I don't see why anyone would or why ads make any money at all. Even if somehow an ad is something i'm actually interested in, I wouldn't click it, because it's not usually good to trust ads. I would just google it instead.

The generic "download now" add I just think is fine. I'm used to seeing it by now anyway ...
