Not a bad idea at all, PacBrad. As plead said, this would be great for aesthetics. I am sure this would add alot of possibilities into the game. I've also had this idea for a while, and I was thinking; if the "brightness" levels were given a certain value related to heat, it could make tpt simulate radiation, which would be pretty cool (however, that will be a movement away from graphics, and into simulation options) -- but that's just asuming it's in the game. Someone has to program this in. And I don't think it sounds simple.

This is not by any means a new idea, but maybe. This would probably mean another optional simulation button though, less a display mode.

i like the idea but i would like to see it as a whole new display mode or an option, not as an addition to fancy. would it look like the light effects in terraria for example? or did i totally misunderstood your suggestion? ^^

I think I understand what it will look like now, but why do only certain random elements emit light? Will the light be sort of like what it looks like when you draw a lot of NEUT/PHOT (but brighter)?

i was thinking terraria like light, a circle glow of different strengths and circumfences from each different element, this would also give glass a use :P

if while this option was enabled all particles that have no light and dont emit light were black it would be quite the show for saves, we would have another boom of new saves with new ideas, it would allow people to make spooky atmospheres to go with a ghost or make it almost pitch black for a save with a battle going on at night!

this has soo many uses, much more than just looking good :D

On the subject of how the light behaves, I think it should illuminate the circular area around it like how plead-for-destruction stated it, but I think the flash of light from nuclear explosions should fill the whole screen, except for areas sufficiently shielded by other elements.
