CGI

    A month ago I have created a C# program + Lua script to generate particles in colour of pixels of images
    Made a beautiful render of text "The Art of Programming" on a white background
    Posted it without reading the rules
    Got B& ;_;

    Picture related, it's a screenshot of remake of the save on my local machine:

    Why, you soulless opponents of art
    Why

    Sorry man, but those are the rules. No CGI, even privately saved.
    And CGI isn't art, it's programming. Try making it by hand, then it's art.

    That's bloody amazing :D
    Now-now, it's unruly to do that to publish.
    Do you care like sharing the program with me or will I need to code it myself?

    No. I asked Simon what if I would copy somehing pixel by pixel, he said it would be counted as CGI and I would be banned.

    While it is a shame and unfortunate, it would be very easy to take advantage of that program and gain and advantage over others (Vote wise and effort wise [Because people don't like it being easy for others]...I don't understand why people get so uptight about votes.), and even if you didn't, the moderators don't know that.

    I don't think they have to worry about that... who would either take the time, or be able to copy the exact colours and positions in a reasonable amount of time.

    Another guy wrote a script that did the same for PNG, I still have it.

    Why no CGI? Because otherwise there would be even more art than there is at the moment. It doesn't use the full capabilities of the game, which makes me sad ;_;

    Also, Powder Toy saves are a really rubbish image format. There are a lot of websites that are designed for sharing pictures, but this isn't one of them.

    (From the screenshot, it looks like you have used real element colours to make the picture. If so, congratulations on not using the boring option of DMND+decoration layer :D)

    I looked at that as well. He did a nice job with that.

    Well, I was doing this not for the art of the image itself (which isn't actually an art, as Driver said) but programming.
    But OK, I understand the rules, and no more drama will be posted. Thank you for enlightening me.

    PS.
    Yes, the image consists of many different particles, mainly due to my lack of knowledge about editing the decoration layer via the console, lol. This means that the script compares a pixel to every particle and finds the most similar one.

    If someone's interested, here's a first "real" render, of fragment of Jan Matejko's Constitution of May 3, 1791:

    Add more colourful particles please <:F
