@Joeboy25(View Post) I believe that they begin with (x) life, and each frame the life decreases by 1, until it reached 0 and goes away. I think I'm wrong though.

I believe @mrsalit0s(View Post) is correct. The current save format can only store one particle in each position. If there are multiple particles in the same place (e.g. PHOT and FILT), only one of them will be saved.
The new save format can save multiple particles in each position (and yes, it saves photon colour as well), but it's not finished yet.
