    Stop
    Online
    Piracy
    Act

    (in the U.S.)

I am against online piracy, but the Act states that any website that has illegal content can be SHUT DOWN by the company that made the product and is selling it.  Ok, that agreeable, sorta.  But then it says that any website that talks about and refers to sites with pirated content can be shut down also.  That's bull, in my opinion.  Those sites didn't steal anything, and they should not be shutdown.  I'm not much of a political person and all this I got from just a article I read.
In this thread comment on what you think about SOPA.

I might be wrong, so correct me if I am.

How can a land call it self democratic when censuring is the exact opposite of democracy?

I'm not against online piracy, when i can't find an old game in a store i can go look on TPB for it.

Funny thing how ThePiratebay.org hasn't been shut down even though the US claims it can shut any website down at will.

No, companies do not lose a thing when people pirate their software.
Also, it will not give power to the government but rather the corporation.

SOPA will not achieve what they're telling us it will.
Corporations can not be trusted, they will abuse this power as they've shown in the past.
It will only aid in corporations crippling their competitors, overall giving a worse off experience to the consumers.

Also don't forget about PIPA. It's just as bad as SOPA.

...not even their temper? I'd get mad if I had a business that made software, and a online pirate cracked and pirated the software that the business runs on. Even if I didn't lose a cent, it would be annoying.
