this is a paper i wrote for school a long time ago: ________________________________________________________________________________________
HOW TO SAVE THE WORLD Or at least how Dr Tran would do it
It all happened in the future, around 2034. The world was in turmoil and Tran was in exile, forced into jail in Jamaica. The world itself was being slowly suffocated. After the nuclear war, the radiation fallout pretty much disintegrated the ozone layer in most places. In those places the ozone layer would open up, dropping large masses of radiation onto (at some times) an entire country, completely wiping all life out.
It was then when Dr Tran thought of THE SOLUTION! He said to himself, ”I need a time machine!” Then, Dr Tran went to work on his new invention (he had a lot of time to work on this since he was in prison). He made a list of Materials and then Procedures and then went to work. He said to himself (for he had no one to talk to), ”I need a flux capacitor!” (for he had thought of such when he fell off the toilet hanging up a picture of a clock at his old house in the 80’s). But he had a problem: his resources were limited! He was in JAIL! In JAMAICA!
Tran then realized that he might be able to create a flux capacitor by fusing the energy-efficient light bulbs together, and be able to reach speeds of 85 mph on his hoverboard (that was allowed during jail “recess”)! He thought again, he could use the processor out of his phone to run the thing! Excited now, Tran went to work.
Tran, that night, had a dream of his invention. He woke up in a cold sweat realizing that even if he went back in time and stopped the nuclear war he would still have to fix existing problems such as global warming, etc. After this thought came to him, he could not sleep any more.
Then, in another epiphany (for one has such thoughts when sitting in jail doing nothing), he said to himself, ”Why not send up a hovercraft and fill in the holes with some different gases!?! Then focus the sun off of the poles and save the polar bears.” On this stroke of genius, he decided to start on his time machine.
Through many perils and frustrating times, Tran finished his time machine. (He and I made a deal not to tell of how he did so). Now he had to wait for recess.
As recess came, Tran smiled excitedly for his new breakthrough. Once he got out, he set up and was off, speeding down the recess field. Suddenly, in a flash of flames, he disappeared.
Being Tran’s associate, I didn’t know what happened once he was gone. All I know is that when I woke up today, the sky was blue instead of the usual black and smoggy and everyone was nice. There were birds out, which was a surprise since I only see those maybe once a year. Plants grew; I could breathe well and such. It was the best day of my life! Everything was wonderful! The next morning, Tran was back, with no record of having ever been in the Jamaican jail. Life was good! Hooray!
