I've been experienceing an issue for a couple of versions, and it seems quite odd. Sometimes the simulation speeds up slightly (I might be imagining that), however it seems to got to low fps (tpt still says 61 fps)... I don't know if this is to do with my computer, or TPT. Has anyone else experienced that?
Feedback for build 107 (using linux, Intel 945GME):
powder-debug, and binary from website: Still just displays a blank screen using 100% CPU. This is caused by a bug in Mesa involving some uninitialised values. One of the memory locations involved is last changed in the Powder Toy function grav_mask_r.
Commenting out the call to gravity_mask in clear_sim (which gets called before shaders are loaded) seems to prevent this from happening, and it behaves as powder-sse3 does (see below).
This particular bug is apparently fixed in the latest Mesa version (https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=35603), but my distro hasn't updated its packages yet and I can't be bothered compiling Mesa myself. It might be a good idea to avoid calling gravity_mask until after the shaders have been compiled.
powder-sse3: Starts successfully. Some things display fine.
However, when I place anything that glows (PHOT, FIRE, PLUT, etc), the glow is rather odd, and the game starts running extremely slowly. Screenshot (using a few particles of PLUT, located at the centre of the glow): https://minus.com/m8vIwWvER
When it does this, it prints: i915_program_error: Bad source->Index: 13
I had that on 66.2 but I had after effects open so I closed that and still no luck, in the end I restarted and that fixed it. I might of re downloaded it but I know what you mean, like plasma or fire would slow down like in slow motion but it would still say 61 fps.
@jenn4(View Post) All the beta's gasses need to be more visible when spread out. It's bloody annoying.
Also, why did you devs make PLUT and URAN glow in the Fire Display? What next, heat glow in Fancy and liquid effects in Fire? Seriously, guys. This is stupid. Why not make a new display that is a merge of Fancy and Fire, then remove the radioactive glow from Fire Display.
