about my suggestion,
It would work like electrode, but you could limit how many lines it can draw with tmp (as stated.)
yeah it would basically be used for drawing colourful shapes, but if you can make it so it both forcefully replaces elements and give it an option to erase, maybe by creating a short lived element, you could make moving eraser arrays which would probably look pretty satisfying when they erase a map.
it could also work like CRAY but without the weird replacing quirk it has, I have made a save to demonstrate this (id:2952311)
you would also have more control over the direction it fires in, because you could activate it from any angle and still have it fire in the direction of the other instance of it, you also dont need an element in front of it to copy.

Regarding your element suggestion, if you just want to "draw" Shapes then you can probably use an element like powered invisible which doesn't interact with the elements. A better idea would be to add a tool that lets you draw different colours and shapes (could be added as a simple lua tool). You won't be able to share it in online saves tho (we'll see).
Yeah, I understand. The mac version (which still works without requiring any user side modifications ) is outdated and lacks all the new features and elements introduced after that. Building mac version of this mod is actually super easy if you are a mac user. You don't need to use special packaging if you build it yourself. I can give you the steps to do it if you are interested.
Lastly, I can only assure you that I will release a mac update as soon as the official workflows starts to support mac packaging.

while I will admit that works, it would be a lot easier to draw shapes using this tool if implemented, because you still need to freehand it.
your lua idea would also work really well, maybe you could turn that into an element?
my interperatation is you could chuck in some numbers and it would draw a shape out of a given element for you, so forgive me when I dont see how that would not be shared in online saves.
maybe temp, tmp, ctype etc could be where you put the parameters? (temp = radius, tmp = sides, ctype = draw element?)
also, it appears that you only skimmed my previous post, as you dont mention the other use for it and the idea I have for a potential use, along with not taking into account the part about the CRAY, so I ask that you look over it again and check out the save I made. (sorry if that sounded rude, I am horrendously bad at communicating with people)
Please take your time when working on these things, dont want to overwork yourself.

Well, in that case I will send you a pm with a special code that unlocks the game no matter what. It also asks you for an alternative password (the favourite element question) when you click on forgot the password button though.
Yea I also clicked that option, but since I hadn't played the mod in a long time I had forgotten.
Just wanted to report a small bug with the mod: ELEX can turn into the missile target tool, so if you place lots of it, it will go into a loop placing missiles
It's was fixed in v49.0 but looks like it got lost somehow when v50.0 update was released. Anyway, it will be fixed again whenever next update happens.
