78 days....and since it has a license key it had better be completely different from TPT. unless it's not a different one, just a replacement for the official, and the new one will be payware?

The new one will definitely be free. Everything about TPT is free.

That's not actually an official release, so technically it's illegal.

does it use a modification to TPT code but they make it closed source? :/

It's actually not. They released the source code for free and sell the actual compiled version. Under the license TPT has, anyone can make a new version AND sell them as long as the source code is priced lower than the actual product.

It's actually open source, the code isn't in a very good state but I did get the ios version compiled myself once. If it were closed source it could get taken down due to the GPL license.

    ios: https://github.com/CannonballStudio/powdertoy
    android: https://github.com/marcin1147/ThePowderToy

Also again, not official :P, but seems to be gaining traction ...

    Well, this sounds... interesting.
EDIT: Nothing secret in the source code.

That was quite a hunt....the clues came a bit early, don't you think @Lockheedmartin ? Or is it for the early hype? This better be awsome.....
