Well, it should be more of a "saves to server based on a set time." maybe every five minutes or so. this could help you recover at least part of your simulation if, say, you accidentialy close the simulation. This feature can be turned on and off by the user, of course.

hmm, that is a possibility, but I don't think it would look good. The icon is supposed to be on the left, and the title might be any length.

Are you using my mod? It only has one new menusection, which is favorites. In there the button on the right says MORE. Everything past that point uses things that look like element selections as buttons. If you aren't using my mod, there is no autosave :P. I noticed that autosave lags (just like when saving certain stamps, might take a while), but it is useful sometimes. I prefer to just do ctrl+s every once in a while to save instead (also just in my mod, does the same saving things that autosave does). That feature is newer though.

The autosave is in jacob1's mod, not the original TPT.
Also, I see no problem in using history to obtain previous versions of saves.

What about moving the reload button so that it's next to the 'erase everything' button?

Also, perhaps the undo snapshot should be updated just before clearing the screen or reloading, so that Ctrl+Z after clearing/reloading will revert to the simulation state just before clearing/reloading instead of the state just after the last use of the brush.

    I disagree.

I believe the consequences if the reload button is moved next to the 'erase everything' button would be as follows:

    • If trying to reload, there is absolutely no possibility of clicking the save button by mistake. Therefore this fixes the problem in the first post.
    • If trying to reload, you might accidentally click 'erase everything'. This is not a problem, since you must open something before it can be reloaded, so you can just open the save again the long way (i.e. using the 'open save' button in the bottom left corner). A slight inconvenience, but not a major problem since you wanted to discard changes anyway (and less of a problem than accidentally saving a messed up version of your save).
    • If trying to erase everything, you might accidentally click 'reload'. This is not a problem, reloading gets rid of changes to the sim but you wanted to get rid of everything anyway.
    • If trying to reload/erase everything, you might click tags or the login button by mistake. This is not a problem, as the dialogues can be cancelled (using the Esc key).
    • If trying to click tags or login, you are unlikely to click reload/erase everything by mistake, since the buttons are much larger. (Exception: logging in as a different user when you are already logged in, since then you have to click the key instead of anywhere on the login button, otherwise you get a profile editing dialogue. However, this probably won't happen for most people since they only have one account, and moving reload would not make this any worse than it is at the moment due to the position of the erase everything button).

So in your opinion, what exactly is the problem with this idea? What have I missed?
