Post any bugs you find here. But there aren't as many bugs that are really bugs and I don't already know about than when this first started, so also use this as a general conversation save, or to ask / tell me anything. #1 most commented save in tpt!

Oh whoops, that last comment was meant to be preceded by "Wikipedia has a lot of good articles" :P

Except the powder toy, which redirects to "Falling sand game". Although there are a few mentions of TPT, and the main image looks like one of the second page saves, with added fire+mayhem+chaos.

Atomic10: when Unix time expires, it will roll over to negative values due to how the sign bit works, thus making the year 1902 or something. Wikipedia has a good article on it.

Atomic10: actually, Unix time expires in 2038 :P Y2K was completely unrelated. Also, 2^31-1 is when using signed integers, unsigned goes as high as 2^32-1. God knows the maximum for floats, ask him. j1: Although using arbitrary limits is possible, it's more efficient to use the machine's natural word size, though I'm sure you know that :P Atomic10: That last statement should have been addressed to you.

Atomic10: yep, those limits are very important in computers. Even when we set arbitrary limits, we often set it on bit / byte boundaries. The 8 bit (1 bytes) limit for element IDs is why it is 255, but we are probably going to change it to 9 bits some time. 65535 is because life is stored using two bytes in the save format. This is to save space and will stay that way :P.

Oh! And 255 being the max. element number probably has to do with an 8 bit system TPT uses! Same thing with the max. life of something (While the sim. isn't paused) is 65535, because it is 16 bit!

    When I said 24 bit, I means 32 bit. :P

And on the other hand, 9,223,372,036,854,775,807 or 2^53-1, is the newer-ly used 64 bit limit used in electronics today. People decided to change from the 24 bit because in 2038, the 32 bit electronics would excede their 2^31-1 second limit, and probably do something bad. Very bad. So now that the 64 bit systems are in use, the next problem with numbers will be in 292 billion years from now. I think the universe will end before that happens....
