To destroy the infection, you must over load the main reactor and blow up the entire station. Srg. James tries to fight the zombies but there are too many. So he sealed the blast door to buy you time to destroy the reactor.

I can always climb the ladders, the O2 ladders never work for me.

Check out Doomed Space 12.5 by vencovsky, it has a better way to get up.
