As for the kind of people that downvote, it's usually ultra-nerds that don't think you're using a material right or just somebody who got offended in some way by your save.

In my experience, when I have gotten floods of downvotes, it's usually because I put a bad tag or a bad title that didn't match up with the save itself. For example, I found a way to make geysers from polonium in water. I tagged it "geyser" and people hated it. I made another one without that, and it received less attention, but also had less downvotes.
