What functions a protogen should have? I have no idea, so I ask all who have to say their ideas in the comments. I cannot guarantee that all of concepts would be implemented, but I'll try my best.

    Chromotaphores are basically what gives a chameleon the ability to have a sort of active camouflage, if I recall correctly.

    Would Protogens be specifically mammals or can they also bear certain capabilities a reptile might have? Main reason for asking is that I was going to suggest chameleon chromatophores.

    It's an entire protogen, not just visor.

    @slayerthevooperian powering a protogen with nuclear power is unnecessary, they pretty much have all the organs a normal animal has, so they dont need that much power. And I think fusion beams would be against the protogen species rules, but I'm not 100% sure
