The RCA-72 station uses an older type of low power radio communication relying on long wave antennas. It is intended for short distance communications, but the main station is equipped to receive FTL as well.

    It's perfectly reasonable to use long wave communications on the AM band for interplanetary communications as long as you have a few spare tubes always ready for use. +1
