    the jumping rods were not a myth when the az-5 was pressed all water in less than a second turned to steam and with the speed it did not have enough time to escape the reactor so they started bouncing to realease some pressure out of the control rods 5 seconds before explosion

    the steam caused the 1000 ton radiation shield to shoot off, then oxygen mixed with hydrogen inside the core which caused the huge explosion. it was NOT nuclear.
