    A human wouldn't shatter just because you flash freeze them. Take a chunk of anything solid, say, ice, or metal, and see if it spontaneously forms cracks. It shouldn't.

    if the temperature of the lair is absolute zero, if a human touched it he would flash freeze and then shatter.
