    @TheExus: That's simple. Similar to how, according to the doppler effect, sound waves are "stretched" out as an object moves away from us, the same thing happens with light. The redshift is caused by an object speeding away and "stretching" the light. Longer wavelengths are more red in color.

    You are very indeed correct, in fact, if your look at the sun from earth, you see ithow it was about 8 minutes ago, and if you look at andromeda, you see it as it was several million years ago
