its actually not JUST the canon doing it , for some reason when you flood fill phot or neut things get a bit screwy and it makes lines instead of actually flood filling

try flood filling with phot/neut and KEEP THE BUTTONS HELD DOWN and move the cursor around

also the flood fill effect is best seen when paused
