Can someone give us a brief history or summary of the game I want to know more about how exactly it came about in the beginning, and how it was revived to become what it is now in such a short time! :D
I remember the facepunch thread being the main hub of the game until simon opened these forums up lol, and I remember playing the game a year ago and when I found out about this I scream...literally I guess I'm not exactly an oldie but not a newbie either, but it doesn't hurt to be curous :D so if anyone is like a history guru then please go ahead and explain!
I'm not a history guru (I'm a combinations, permutations, and color guru ) but the first time I saw TPT is the version with like 10 elements and only a few walls. I thought the powder toy was abandoned when I couldn't save or view uploads on that version anymore, but then I found v40.3 and was very surprised. Remember those saves about suggestions of new elements like liquid nitrogen and stuff? (I wonder how many people got left behind)
Stanislaw made the game a couple years ago, had a server at powder.unaligned.org and everything. A couple months ago (March?) the game got very popular on a certain imageboard about technology. Simon was one of the first to make mods for it (others simply did ports to GNU/Linux and OS X), and the first elements he added were ACID and PLNT. He was only operating by himself at first, taking some requests by users of the imageboard. He eventually created powder.hardwired.org.uk, which was just a file directory, not a website. He started posting versions there, and many people on the imageboard learned about the website. Simon then made a Suggestions section which was just a place to make suggestions (kind of like a mini-forum). Then came the forums, the registration of powdertoy.co.uk, then more developers started to come up. I don't know much about the old TPT though
hmm... I have been interested in the PT's history. Although i haven't heard from him in a while (on the forums), i think plypencil actually helped make or test the original PT. That being said, I only found out about Simon's modifications from a friend at school.
