Projectiles and Projectile Menu

    "I feel this deserves its own Thread due to the fact that it would deal with the addition of more than one particle to TPT."


    Proposal:
    Okay to make this simple and short I was inspired by the following Scene

    LoadSaveBlock(123945);

    In this scene the user has created a pretty successful gun. Now my question is would it be useful to add more particles to the game similar to bomb. I know we have some pretty destructive stuff in TPT, but when it comes to building guns, other then the model the user used above we are pretty limited on Projectiles. I understand we can use laser/Photons and Super Hot Uranium, but what I think we should have is a Projectile Menu with different types of Bullets or rounds.

    For instance take into to consideration the following.

    Incendiary Projectile. Super hot, Glowing projectile. Cuts through soft material (Goo, Wood) and Impacts heavy material (Stone,Metal)

    Armor Piercing Projectile. Heavy projectile, Explodes into shrapnel in soft materials (Plant, Wood) and cuts through Heavy material.

    Standard Projectile. (This is nothing special in the fact that it will only tear into any material 1-4 pixels) This would be a general type of projectile and could be used for Mini guns and shotguns.

    Implementation: As far as spawning goes, I think what would work best is something similar to the Power Clone or PCLN. The user would spark PSCN and the charge would go to the projectile spawner. What would then happen, as with the array, the spawner would send the particle flying in the opposite direction it received the charge from. Im not sure how things would be handled in the way of Stray bullets or Ricochets but I imagine that would be a type of Projectile itself rather then coding all the information into each Projectile. Also if a user wanted to make a bigger bullet or a shotgun it would just be a matter of making your 1pix wall of Projectie spawner a 1pix by 2pix so on and so forth.

    If this has been mentioned before, Im sorry to waste your guy's time. Also a little note to Simon. I do not promote in anyway some of the other stuff people do when it comes to things like guns. For instance if this would make it into a future Powder Toy I do not endorse people using it as an excuse to create blood particles and such. This post is just for the pure fun Powder Toy is.

    Bullet element is possible but uhh, it's kinda easier said that done to implement it like this so closely. o_x

    Think like Photons. They can be made to travel in a straight line and travel through only specific elements, and bounce. This might not be hard to make, but some details might get shaved off in the process.

    Eh... I tried to stray away from that term since I seen a mod awhile ago that used Bullet. But I agree basically what I'm expressing above could be a photon used as a bullet. Though unlike the photon I would like to see the particle obey the Pressure/Velocity/Gravity laws in TPT. Thats why the Bomb Particle fascinates me.

    Okay what if I use this as a simple example.

    Take away bombs lighting effects or change it to a silver or orange, have it spawn at 300c, Lower the Impact explosion radius in half, and lower its impact heat. This would start to be closer to what I was explaining above. Sometimes I get ahead of myself in explaining something, though now that I think about it. Changing bomb a little bit would almost make it a bullet. Then we could just use the Spawn elements we already have.
