    just an idea

Wouldn't it make sense for plants under pressure to be converted into oil?

implying that plants are just hydrocarbons

how bout just carbon, or if on fire, they leave carbon behind, which can be used to burn again

no, carbon will not form the series of hydrocarbons of necessary Carbon and Hydrogen bonds under pressure

under massive heat and pressure diamond will form and other forms of carbon like graphite
