THEN it wasn't distilled water, it could have been whatever. Water ALWAYS boils, distilled water does not CONDUCT. Maybe you mean superheating water, which may, in semi-rare cases, be the cause of your strange sight. 1. Water gets microwaved. 2. Water goes to 100 C. 3. Water is on a very smooth surface, therefore there is no surface for the water to boil to gas bubbles. 4. You add something to water, which has very smal holes in it aka nucleation sites, where water rapidly turns into gas. There you have it.
