Hot take, but i think PLUT is better..

No but seriously, PLUT melts uppon explosion allowing it to melt buildings and destroy them while DEUT just sends out a bunch of super hot neutrons, If the place is mostly melted it cant really attack bunkers.
Now i know what your thinking, "But what about hyper compressed DEUT?!?" Same problem as regular DEUT, it cant do anything if its already mostly melted

This is indeed a controversial opinion.

Unless youre doing reactors, them DEUT is easier, anyways i think that high life layered DEUT is better

     Ikr!

Both succeed in their own catagories leaving a huge gap between each other.

plutonium creates molten plutonium that is a good source of heat
deuterium at high pressure is very explosive and reactive

I'd say DEUT isnt really explosive and it just turns into a unholly ammount of NEUT.

deuterium under pressure is extremely violently reactive and the only thing that prevents it from being an "explosion" is no release of gas other than unconsumed deuterium if it is uncontained
