    Maybe powered portals could be useful for creating reactors, engines, etc. To activate it use nscn and do deactivate it use pscn, (pwti) and (pwto).

    Couldn't you just you PPIP before & after PRTI  & PRTO instead? I feel like that would achieve what you want. There are other ways to do this as well (E-Wall, STOR w/o PIPE, etc.).
