Changing Graphics of lava

How would I go about removing the glow and changing colour of lava based on temp?
For example a metal that melts at temp 50, how would I make it not glow untill reaching a higher tempreture? Also would I be able to change its colour before it reaches the higher tempreture?

LAVA is not a good target element for high temperature transitions of elements that don't glow when they're about to melt, and indeed, those that have very low melting points. I suggest you take WAX's approach, which is to add a separate element for the liquid state, i.e. MWAX. That way, you have full control of the graphics of both states.
