I see that many elements has very odd names, for an example:

    -TRON

    -Vibranium(VIBR)

    -,,Steam train"(MORT)

Some of them just have an odd abbreviation(like TRON,why not, for an example,SMAR as smart particles),but some also have a very odd name(Vibranium does not exist in real world), while in case of the MORT they are both odd.If someone can help me,please comment!

TRON was named after the game (and movie) due to its appearance of a light trail while moving

MORT was named after Mortvert, a user, and there's a inside joke behind steam engines and stuff

Often times, when an element pull request was implemented/accepted and there's no real life basis, the creator gets dibs on naming the element. Not an official policy, but happens rarely enough that we allow for unique names to be used for elements.

Vibranium was named after Captain America's shield, hence his sheild is made of Vibranium.
