    You could also use mIRC like me.

    OR you could use webchat(webchat.freenode.net) for our IRC and Mibbit for other IRC channels and bypass and the bulk and ugliness of desktop clients.

    OR you could use the simplicity of Irssi and its great tiling and window management capabilities for any OS there is, completely free.

    I have mIRC and IceChat& both.
    And I like IceChat. It's easier to understand but the downside is not so many scripts..

    i have added a webchat guide to it so now there are 2 different guide for people to choose from although icechat is superior to webchat
