Use metal or another solid, delete the center. Then create your planet, melt if you want it spherical. Make sure the the solid ring is thick enough where gases don't leak out. Use deco if you don't want anyone to notice the ring around the planet. Color it black, if desired. This to make the ring look non-existent. Edit: Don't melt the ring. 

Turn off deco to see ring.
