Age labels

I feel that ingame you cant really express yourself fully, swearing is banned (usually) and you cant put anything not family friendly so my idea is that you could add an age number beside the save and if your age is under 18/ or not specified then the thumbnail wouldnt show and you would be given a warning upon clicking that would say something like, "WARNING: This save has been labeled as NSFW" or "Your specified age is under the limit". this is probably stupid but i just had the thought you know?

well my thought was it to be like youtube where you can request nsfw or if mods find the save they can label it as nsfw - and you can report saves and mods will review them(?)

There is not really a need for 18+ things.

YouTube can do such a thing because they have the power to determine such content. Automatically or manually. The Powder Toy is simply a few (probably less) moderators with whatever free time they want to spare. We judge NSFW content for punishment by their nature. Not everything is permanent bans.

There is absolutely no need for that, NSFW content should never be allowed, this game mostly attracts young people, allowing NSFW content would be bad for most of the audience. I recently made a graph with ages of 120 random people and shared it on IRC, it might be useful to show it here:

    image
    Box and whisker plot

The average age is 15.367 and the most common ages are (in order) 13, 14, 15, 12, 16. Also, 84.167% of TPT users are under 18, so it's clear that NSFW content shouldn't be allowed.

Another thing (which was mention by @ajloveslily) is that a lot of children lie about their ages on the Internet. This site says that the ages that were used by 83% of the 11 to 15 year olds whose internet usage was monitored were false. This one says that 31% of kids aging between 12 and 18 have lied about their age in order to access websites.

How would you propose labelling saves as being NSFW? if the author of the save is the only one who can do it, then trolls wouldn't label their saves as NSFW. If other users vote on whether it's NSFW, then it's possible for kids to come across those saves before they get labelled. A group of trolls can also cooperate to vote on an innocent and decent save to mark it as NSFW, causing more problems for moderators to deal with.

Also, would anyone old enough enjoy those NSFW saves? I'm sure that if they were looking for porn, they would go to a porn website rather than search for NSFW content on TPT. Since a lot of people in this game are under 18, those NSFW saves would never be successful, making them useless.

One last thing is that, assuming the idea was great and there were no problems, adding something like that to the game is almost impossible; it would require a lot of server-side work (and also client-side work) and @Simon (who is the main administrator of the game, the server and the website, but is very inactive) would likely have to be involved in the project, since only a few developers have access to server-side stuff, and their access is even limited.

Interesting graph but you forget that some users have more than 52. I've seen some 128, 666, etc. :D
