Current Setting:
The year is 1960. The War that begin in Europe about 2 decades ago ravaged the entire world, as the Third Reich destroyed the French and the British, as well as the Russians. They made their move on America, as Japan crossed the Pacific to attack the other coast. The Americans were so terribly outnumbered... They had had no choice. They first made one, then more, and more. As the U.S. nuclear stockpile grew, the Krauts made their own. No one won, in the end. Now, the rest of the world begins to peak out from their holes, and sees the world anew. Civilization has been demolished almost every, either by war, rioting, famine, or fallout. But who's to say that would stop a single nation from taking it all?
The Game
This game was originally made in BMN, and now it is here. You play by choosing a country that fits the limitations below, and you work from there. You can also created your own nation, by choosing a region that fits the limitations. You play by making actions or advancements. You can ONLY make three of these a turn. As in, you can take 1 action, and 2 advancements. Good luck! The game ends when people get bored with it.
Limitations
North America and Europe are destroyed. Anyone still living there won't be for much longer... (No starting countries from those regions); '30-'40s technology to start out with; you have radiation, bandits, and poor agriculture to deal with.
Gameplay
Every advancement in technology counts as one month, as does every other action. By 1980, the problems with radiation on the surface will leave the playing field, and by 2010, the radiation in the dead zones will be gone. Every few years or so, there will be a global/regional disaster that can completely change the tides of the game, as well as intermittent civil disasters/events (riots, boycotts, mass-murder, terrorism, etc). BMN Admirals can participate, or they can be disaster announcers. They won't do anything too overpowered.
Rules
No extreme tech advances. Keep it realistic. There is no going to space in this game, or at least, there is no leaving orbit. Deal with disasters as they come, or I will announce problems with your economy, population, etc as a result of not dealing with the disaster. Deal with your problems in a realistic manner. No nuclear weapons. No finding massive weapon caches left over from the war/another country. Alliances are allowed. You may only make 3 advances or action per turn.
Thats about it people. Pick your countries, and have at it.
Out of a nuclear bunker in the heart of Russia climb a group of around twenty somewhat bewildered researchers, from what was the most advanced laboratory of Russia. Blinking at the bright sunlight, they gaze around at the ruins of their city. The city had been a center of industry, lying at the center of a cluster of dozens of mines, factories and refineries. Of course, those were now all destroyed.
One of them pulls out a box of matches, and suggests they light a fire using wood from the ruins of a nearby house. Shivering from the harsh Russian weather, they agree. Soon, they are warming themselves around a large fire.
They begin to discuss how to solve their predicament.
They can all agree on one thing - whatever they do, they will never go back to Soviet ideologies; they were already grown weary of the oppressive Stalin regime. They can't say they will miss the old government. It is much better, they claim, to revert to more Western ideals, which had resulted in so much more progress for other societies.
After a lengthy discussion, they decide to create a new society out of the ashes of the Soviet Union - called simply the Republic of Russia, they will create it from survivors, and build an entire civilization.
Oh yeah! I started a trend and a thread just because I changed my username! I call China! (Which is in southern Asia.)
China, which prepared itself after the news of a possible nuclear war built bunkers and re-stocked existing ones in order to survive the war. Protected by the Himalayas and other barriers China was isolated from the rest of the world during the war. Now in chongqing the remaining survivors emerge, and the brightest one decided to take control, forming the Bowser Empire.
In the non-radioactive mountains farms still exist, which can hardly sustain the leftover population. More farms are being built in time.
