     Nope.

Back in ye olde before bugfixes, I set things to >10000k and <0k and they produced spectacular wind cycles. (Ambient heat)

    Spectacular.

"Back in ye olde" and "(Ambient Heat)"... Ambient heat has been around for something like two years. Jacob1 is talking about things which happened at least five years ago.

You can set temperatures to absurd numbers, but the game will make it something within the limit.

why dont we make it so that tpt shows temps in fairenheit and centigrade (Celcius) for all us americans.

    I am American :P

You probably think you know Fahrenheit but you really only know the things around 0-100F. In TPT temperatures range from like -400F to 18000F. So putting it in Fahrenheit does nothing at all except for make it harder to talk to other TPT players about when things melt, read temperature displays / signs, etc.

Also they will probably teach you a bit of the metric system in school anyway :P, all of Chemistry and Physics uses Celsius. Best to start learning it now.

Well, the sciences will have that as Centigrade/Celsius (metric) are the SI units, which are the standard of measurement for science subjects.

While I wouldn't mind an extreme temperature that would cause anything, including DMND to explode, that'd be going much too far, and would have heated my laptop to water-boiling temperatures. :P

In any case, perhaps if you can provide uses for such extreme temperatures...

Personally, I'm curious as to why the maximum temperature is 9725.78 (or similar) exactly, and not a round number.

Not all users are Americans, for example @Simon he's English. 1byte won't hurt or, will it?

    Because it's defined in Kelvin. 9725.85 C + 273.15 = 9999 K, which is a round(ish) number

nope, since MAX_TEMP is a constant defined as 10000, making it a variable could cause some slowdowns.

If you want a higher max temp point you could make a mod (and actually compiling TPT with a different maximum temperature is super easy if you really wanted me to do it ...).
