TUNG Emits Electrons When Hot

In the realm of reality, when tungsten is heated (usually by electricity) it emits electrons. See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thermionic_emission

This could be a very useful element if thermionic emission was added. It could be used to create triodes, other amplifiers, CRTs, electron guns, etc without using PBCN, PCLN, CLNE, or BCLN. (A big advantage, because it could then be controlled by simply running SPRK through it.)

I personally don't have the time to learn how to modify anything with Lua, or mod it into TPT. This would be great to have in a future version, though.

look, Im gonna say it a bit nicer than the others will when they see this...

Powdertoy isnt really meant to be realistic. If I were you, I wouldnt put the whole 'realism' thing in your suggestion thread. Thats one of the main things people will start to snap at you about.

Even though it may be useful, people have other uses for tung, and this could POSSIBLY interfere with them. The older uses kinda take priority.

It would break tons of saves however. Can you imagine what would happen in your electronic creation when the TUNG in it suddenly emits an electron an short ciruits everything?

can be fixed by this: if near tung has an insl, then it wont emit electrons.

Perhaps it can only emit an electron if the pressure is below -50? That way saves won't be broken, and tungsten could still be used as an electron emitter.

    seems like it could work...

I like the pressure idea... That would make sure that the old saves dont kill themselves, but the new property will still be included, under certain circumstances.
