Are groups a thing?

So are there any groups that actually do anything internally, or is this all just a massive charade to make me jealous that I am not in all the exclusive clubs?

Do they have some sort of hidden super-special-awesome subforums in them or something?

Groups in themselves in fact are like private sub-forums with their own moderation, however none of these is really active. The Minecraft group I started for @petrol died out a year or more ago. The Programming group, which is not really high in user knowledge level, had a recent post in March, which is peculiar.

Now, about the Aperture/Brotherhood group... That one actually is active, with last posts dating back for a little over a week.
One might actually find interest in groups.

    If they only had notifications...
(totally unrelated but I was told if you paged @Simon three times in a row then something neat would happen)
