Hello all,
I've resumed packaging TPT for Debian, and I've been thinking about the page name.
This may seem trivial, but should it have "the" at the beginning of the name? As far as I know, this doesn't conflict with Debian policy, so we don't have to worry about that. Here's an excerpt of an email I got from a Debian Developer:
I don't think there is a policy, other than "packages should have the
same name they have upstream" (I'm not sure if that's written anywhere,
but it seems logical). For example, if the upstream tarball is called
"thepowdertoy-0.1.tar.gz" or something, then "thepowdertoy" is a
sensible name. You can also use the main executable's name as reference
which normally has the same name as the tarball.
I looked at AUR's package, and it's called "powder-toy". Mine is currently called "the-powder-toy", but I'm thinking if I should rename it to "powder-toy" or even "powdertoy".
Between "powder-toy" and "powdertoy", I prefer the latter, but I'm not sure what's better between that and "the-powder-toy" because he said it depends on what they call it upstream (that's you guys). I've seen that you're github repo is called "The-Powder-Toy" and the executable is called "powder<optionshere>".
So, any suggestions on what I should do?
Ok, that's what I was thinking, too ;)
I'll get to changing it sometime this week, as I've had a long week and it's almost done now...
Thanks! :)
