How is the front page calculated?

    I was just wondering and all, but how are the saves put on the front page calculated? Is it an average of views and votes? Or is there another factor? Or is it just a mod can just choose it? I was wondering because if it's the first one then why isn't my multifunctional laser up there? Mrsalitos's laser has a less higher average then mine. Just wondering.

    Caused by: time you made save + popularity + votes.

     

     

    For instance: 8:30pm when now is 8:45pm + 36 views + 4 votes.

    its got to do with a ratio of age, votes in a certian time (5 votes in 5 min rather than 5 votes in 5 days) and how long others have been on front page (they can only be on fp for 7 days)

    Votes/time (views maybe). Saves are limited to 1 week on FP and can fall off then get back on. The time after the save was made is also important.

    Basically if you get X amount of views/votes in Y time, the greater X is proportionate to Y the better your chances are for front page. (If my equation is wrong it is in your best interest to realize I received a C- in Algebra last year)

    The sooner you receive a bunch of votes views the better your chance of front page. Theoretically you could get 100 votes over a period of lots of weeks/a few months and never get FP. I honestly liked the old system a bit, now there are too many stupid saves on fp.

    Explanation for dummies:

    - the more views + votes you get in the less amount of time

    basically

    More votes = ++
    More views = ++
    More time = --

    Votes + Views - Time = Score?

    votes^2/time as far as I've figured
    if time>1 week then remove
    mods can edit the fp freely
