"bad" suggestions that made it in?

This is not a request for a specific idea to be implemented, but rather a question.

I noticed that some of the more recently added elements (Electron, TNT, and fighter) had previously been dismissed as either useless or too similar to another element. To suggest one of these was a seal of noobdum.

And yet.... here we are with those three elements. (Which I really like.)

So, with all due respect, doesn't anyone else think it's funny that some of the most "noobish" suggestions were the ones to make it into the official updates?

I am sorry if this is in the wrong section or is a bad topic. I wasn't sure exactly where to put it.

Don't get me wrong: I personally was really happy to see these elements added in. I just think its odd that those elements had been dismissed repeatedly and even placed on "do not suggest list."

But still, people had vehemently insisted that these should not and would not be added. What changed? Did the mods have a change in heart about TNT and Fighter?

on another note, how is Clst a "newer chapter?" I am not a coder, so I am ignorant of what goes on behind the scenes. :(

CLST has a lot of different things going on. The code for it is more advanced than most any other element. As far as TNT goes, it is a step in a new direction in explosions and graphics. It does things that no other explosives do. and FIGH would be an advancement in the AI of tpt.

It's because noobs think it's a good idea and they spam about it, and noobs greatly outnumbers other users, so it's popular, but nooby.

Generally the reason a suggestion gets annoying is because SO many people ask for it without looking to see if it was asked before. The suggestions are heard and we don't want to hear them a million times so we just say no (or forum people yell at them). This doesn't mean they are bad ideas, it just takes someone to actually implement it in code, and if it is nicely made, it will go into the official version.

CLST has one of the shorter code pages in the game source actually. It's basically just like, if the element is touching CLST, then if it's cold it depletes some velocity.

Also it makes paste with water, as a replacement for the mechanic which borked CNCT.

And yes basically, elements that are suggested but repeatedly denied usually are made anyway in the official if someone codes it in anyway, demonstrates it, and people are impressed.

Elements don't get rejected. Functions get rejected, because element suggestions vary depending on the functions they have, they can be accepted if there functions are feasible and useful. The misconception that elements get rejected is caused by stereotypes based on negative stigmas created by pre-existing suggestions. Yes, even elements rejected countless times like GOLD may be coded but only if it has unique useful properties that people actually want and need.

Just to be hated, but I remind that it's rather the comunity than the mods/devs that flame and hate suggestions and requests. For example cate is very positive on posts that get flamed for being "stoopid" and confess that there's just none that have taken the responsibility to code it yet.
