as a cluster computer builder, i would love to have the ability to use powder toy as a fun stress-test and a benchmark for cluster computers.

here are two ideas of achieving this:

1) edit the code so the app has multiple threads (not just 2 threads, 16+). this will not only benefit an openMOSIX cluster computer, but it would run better on multicore CPUs which are very common these days.

2) add MPI to the code so powder toy could run on conventional cluster computers, or even supercomputers.

since powder toy is a computationally intensive app, it would make sense to deploy it on a cluster computer to see how far we can increase the FPS. this could be a simple benchmark that is easy to use, easy to understand and is fun to use.
