Moving Physics?

Will i ever see any form of mechanics in powder toy? That would then be the best, physics game around...

Things like, metal bar, pivot points, wheels, gears etc. This physical movement would complete this game i think

Then you could make little cars that run on oil engines, or mechanical devices that also use the chemical power.

    Is this possible, if so...when?

This isn't a physics game. Powder Toy runs cellular automata instead, which has more in common with Conway's Game of Life than games like Phun. :(

But is it possible to make this happen? maybe create some sort of launchable application that people can download and add powder to. or all ready to go

i mean a Game like, Armadillo run... that sort of physics with powder toy's chemicals.....

If not, do you know any games exactly like this ???

No. Games can't just be combined like lego blocks, sorry :(

To make an analogy, powder toy deals with little pixels that never connect to each other, and are distinct only because of their ID number in memory. They follow the same set of rules that dictate their movement.

...In physics games, "particles" don't really exist so much as "objects". A block could be made of fifty particles, interconnected. Powder Toy can't really just drop in this sort of mechanic without some serious work due to the nature of the particles it already is designed to handle, which isn't likely to be done anytime soon.

well the main problem is that it is hard to code and no one really wants to spend a lot of time to do it, it might happern someday.

so it can be done, but no one wants to....

if it happened it would be crazy

hard to code means that they will have to implement what catelite said which means they will have to rewrite alot of code

What takes alot of time, so devs couldn't do anything else for months or years.

So..... yea it can be done but no one can be bothered doing it........ oh well. Somone message me if it gets done some time Cya

It would be cool if a small group of devs took up the physics-affected solids concept (moving solids), while a anothe rgroup continued development as normal.
