As it works it will save each frame to an AVI file. It will slow down the processing as needed to acomadate the rate at which each frame can be saved. To activate press Ctrl+Shift+(the key used to take screenshots). When pressed it will bring up the codec selecton dialog box showing all the installed codecs on your computer, and let you pick the one you want to use. Then when you press ok it will start recording (if previously paused, it will automatically unpause now). Since the compression algorithms of some codecs may not be able to be processed in real time (lots of computations for DCTs or other methods of compression) then it will slow down the frame rate of the simulation so as not to have to drop any frames. Since the target frame rate of TPT is 60fps, then the framerate of the AVI file will be set at 60fps (regardless of what the actual frame rate that TPT was using was during the process). This way when the AVI file is played back, it will show what's happening at the speed it was meant to be seen. Press Ctrl+Shift+(screenshots key) again to stop the recording and finalize the saving of the AVI file (at this point TPT would go back to operating at maximum displayable framerate, only governed by how complex your simulation is and your computer's speed).
This could be VERY useful for simulations who's normal speed is very slow due to complexity and you want to see your simulation run at full speed.
That's a waste of time for just one video. We need a way of recording directly from TPT. DosBox has a built in video recorder. Why doesn't TPT have one?
that would be wwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy too awesome to actually happen in upcoming versions, also, it would jack up the MB of the file of TPT and people would complain (though i dont really care if people complain i think that is an awesome idea
@Videogamer555 DosBox has a built in video recorder. Why doesn't TPT have one? Maybe DosBox isn't tpt. Maybe developers have other things to worry about than a little video recorder that gamax has already made.. MAYBE just MAYBE they don't need to.
