Forum Games Collaboration

Wow, you don't feel bad about yourself for doing such a thing, now people know how bad you are. Also, why didn't you leave the first thread until users stop talking about the problem? now you have complaints/arguments in both threads.

    1. Where is your approval of using #powder-forums? This is not 'official', so I ask you to use ##powder-forums or something.

    2. You should have kept it with one thread because there's a bad PR spin on your Forum Games Collaboration.

    3. Why does this need an IRC channel? What sorts of mystical things would need an entirely separate channel for it?

I am sorry, but I can't resist the temptation:
    Lockheedmartin (and the rest): 1

    Factorial: 0
    .

    .

    .

HitlerSucks: -1 (f*cks given about he IRC because I pretty much never use it)

But in all seriousness, I never understood why have an IRC channel for TPT. From all I saw of it, it was just for talking, but the forums are already used for that, so having 2 websites that both serve the same purpouse seems a tad redundant?

But IRC is for live chating AND for users who use IRC for other tings and they also join #powder to talk.

    >2 websites
IRC is a shiny plaintext protocol which is far less demanding on the network as full websites. The IRC network #powder sits on is a free service provided by freenode, since an IRC server can host thousands of channels with relative ease, even more so when it's a network of servers like freenode. The entire effort taken to set up a TPT irc channel was (1) joining the new channel and (2) /msg ChanServ register #powder . Done. It's easy, however powerful (as powerful as sixty people exchanging text can be).

    And that's all the fun!

No but the IRC is definitely more than 80% of my interactions with other "powder community" members - it's so much more fun than the forums, besides it's almost live instead of the forums where it takes hours to get a response. A lot of people who have kinda dripped away from the forums still hang out on IRC.

IRC's not quite a website, though clients for it can.

The channel's for lots of things really. Like io and boxmein said,it's for live chatting for quite a few things.Because it uses instant messaging, IRC makes a nice medium for tech support, but I don't see that much around these days. Often,we discuss coding with all sorts of programming languages as well as variety of other technical stuff, but we also talk about what goes on in the powder forums, current world events, or just what's happening in our lives (the weather, school, work, etc.) In fact, you don't have to discuss the technical stuff or anything you don't understand unless you really want to end up on the Most Active Nicks stats page

Basically,a lot like BMN's Crap Page (and yes, we do share funny/interesting pictures time to time),but quicker, much less spammy/filled with actual random crap, and occasionally more serious.

Also, for your own sake, don't watch NUMB3RS's explanation of IRC. Your head for hurt for a good amount of time.

I unregistered the old channel (#powder-forums) and registered the new one, ##tpt-fgc, so issue resolved.
