    There are definitely more reasons, for example, this thread can be used to announce anything related to the group. Also, making a forum thread describing your group is one of the best ways to advertise your group.

    There is no other efficient method of getting a group known than to put up a thread about it. In the last thread, there were events of flame, trolling, and conversations between WW2 powers (It apparently is a thing that used to happen quite frequently here). 

     

    Other than sending a massive amount of invites (*cough cough* bannable *cough cough*), this is the best way to do it,
