    Accounts are generally stored in a database queried with SQL. Even if no interface on the website can do it, anyone with access to the database certainly can do it directly.

    I think deleting an account would cause issues with other parts of the database that expect that account to be there. And usually people don't actually want their account deleted, they just want something else (a name change, old forum posts removed, to start over where nobody recognizes them, etc.)

    It's funny how many perm banned users are in this thread ... I guess that's one way to "delete an account"
    (please don't actually get yourself perm banned, just PM a mod if you want to work something out)
