Whats the issue with adding ai?

    The only reason these elements -aren't- in the game is because their functions have been almost entirely replaced by all manner of logic gates and energy particles. Their existence would be painfully redundant in Powder Toy.

    If we're going to lop in new elements, they might as well do something fresh and new, not simply exhibit an unusual mode of movement with a few logic rules a monkey could work out ;P

    *Not to mention, these elements are staples of Danball's Powder Game, something we're not too keen on mimicking perfectly. So no, we're not adding LASR element either. ;P

    **This all being said too, you could make a new kind of particle with all kinds of life-like behavior without any actual AI at all that consumes things, moves around in environments of water air or solids, whatever. The sky's the limit guys, copying danball isn't going to excite anyone.

    Well, somthing "AI" in the game would add to the list of staple elements that are currently present, like stne or wood. I know this is kinda off topic, but I think it is time that there are more basic elements added to the game. Recently there has been a demand for intensly radioactive, explosive, flashy new elements, like prot, virs, grvt, tron etc... I personally love these elements, but where would the powder toy be with out the relaible basic elements.
    I've been seeing more element suggestions asking for elements like alluminum and magnesium and I've even made a few like dirt, and seed. These get tossed aside, labled as boring or not useful enough.

    I think TPT should start adding more staple elements that add to the diversity.

    basic AI particle may be a good start?

    *No way critisizing the mods in any way*.

    ^ See above statement. :P

    Nothing wrong with elements that have rudimentary movement and behavior logic, but Dan-Ball spoofs are going to get shot down.

    ..And yeah. Adding more staple elements when we have all of the basic elements essentially covered is nonsense. I used to do work in wxSand, and I can reliably tell you, adding craptons of elements that don't do unique things is a waste of time and effort.

    If someone wants to add an element with tons of unique interactions with other elements, or something that behaves more subtly and doesn't explode, but can be used in constructive ways instead, it doesn't need a boring elemental name. That's just lazy. :P

    Just an idea, how about adding spiders and web to the list. WEB slows down particles and SPDR makes webs. Just an idea. I know it won't be added but maybe for modders

    That's a pretty interesting idea, actually. Spiders would be hard to code though.

    Instead of COPYING dan-ball, I have an idea! What about just starting simple, like coding something that can detect elements in front of it and go around to get to its destination (kinda like TRON, the element)

    I doubt the mods would want to add a useless element that only requires basic path finding. Problem: They won't add a useless element that's fun and intresting if it's useless (Plus they said they usually ignore suggestions, true jacob1 said that)

    EDIT: For SPDR maybe check the y and x axis for 100 pixels for a solid element, if both reach one then SPDR stops falling and moves along a caculated line that draws n sided polygons (Easy, use sin+cos with angle increment of 360/n) that gradually get smaller, and draw a line connecting through the verticies. The problem is probably the lag to search and moving along the line, but somebody might figure it out (Hope I do, or else Feynman will have a better mod than jacob1's by the time mine's released)

    @Voyager15 (View Post)

     Well, birds and fish dectect the c-type of the particles in their general vicinity, and act accordingly. Makes for "flock" like behavior than would be insane to see coded.

    @ROHANman

    Ur shit

Locked by jacob1: rejected, too complicated to code ):
