mehh, i would prefer a three dimensional (though current technology probably couldn't do with it)
the problem with 3D, at least with the scale PowderToy uses, is that calculating millions of particles would be very intense on memory and compuation speed, since each partcile would need to know how to react to others nearby. Powdertoy does ok with this with 2 dimensions, but adding a third dimension would increase the computational demands to the point where the game would not be playable.
a way to ease that might be to have particles form into solid meshes under some conditions,i.e. carbon crushed until it turns into diamond. and have it turn back into particles when conditions are met for it, that way instead of having an entire 10x10x10 meter area of sand, for example, the only part that would flow is the part touched. the mesh would still need a celular overly to determine wheather something is hitting it,but it would be much less demanding than having it start as indevidual particles. the other alternative might be to have each particle be much larger than in real life, for example everything is at least fist sized. depending on how detailed you want things to look that might be too large and over-simplified. a balance between graphics and intops is needed.
I would ask for it. But she sounds like an old hag, and she would get mad.

As for stating the obvious, if you want to place a wall of text in a thread, at least use proper grammar and spacing.
please be incredibly more helpful then. I at least explained it while you're just complaining about things.

He's just discussing the perfect game. You don't need to beat him down about why this and this can't happen.
so your point is everyone is supposed to just look at this post, smile, and then go to another page? why would someone even bother posting on a forum if they didn't want feedback?
