I happen to be on the night side of that planet, in a Liquid-H2-cooled diamond vault. it turns out that the planet is made of diamond and is orbitting 5,000 astronomical units away from the star, so I don't notice the supernova for about a month, and then I wake up and realize that civilization on the other side of the world is destroyed and the star is now a Nebula.
