I'm seeing a lot of voting threads these days.
You always see huge image spam and it gets deleted by mods, no a mod is doing it. Bad Catelite.
The "All-time votes" system from Pg.2 onwards, yes. Those saves there will likely almost never be replaced just because of their now firmly-embedded positions. The Sporepedia has a (I think flawed in their implimentation but workable) system whereby the + vote count means less and less over time, so old creations with lots of votes don't stay permalocked at the top and new, good*cough* creations are always coming through. I think their system works too aggressivly, but something similar would be great, I think, for Pg.2 onwards.
The idea of a browser and rating system is so that good work can be seen? Currently there is lots of good work that doesn't make it to FP, or just barely scrapes in for a day or two that is superior to many of the Pg.2 saves. Obviously this breaks the idea of being able to have the best saves seen more frequently. The rating system just needs to stay more relevant.
That is a good idea, but the famous saves of 2nd page shouldn't be changed, they're Powder Toy's Museum. But for the one's below, maybe Votes/Days=Rank But there has to be a limit or else things 2 minutes old with 4 or 3 votes could end up very high.
That's what I mean by EA's Sporepedia system being too aggressive IMO. Obviously you would set sane values. Perhaps an ultimate system would balance votes/time as the current FP system moderated by the total number of votes/days since creation. Or something. I admit I havn't even considered any math. I might...?
Wait, what about things created that day? 3 or 4 or something/0=0 Maybe 0 days from creation would show as 1?
I don't know. This type of thing is something the modwide all with. :/
